This feels a little like stepping up to a microphone in the spotlight– I can’t quite see you but I sense that there must be somebody out there. Maybe even a lot of somebodies.

In my day job I do a lot of writing, I am a grad student after all, but I don’t get to do much creative writing. Of course, I think that all writing is creative because making sentences that don’t sound like garbage is terribly difficult. Still, I want to find a voice that isn’t just academic and is reflective on a more personal level. The blogs SouleMama, Orangette, and NotMartha (not to mention all the others on my blogroll) so impressed me that, at first, I felt like the standard was too high.
At the urging of my boyfriend, who really did nothing more than say “sweetie, you should do it. I’ll help you with the CSS,” I decided it was time to start my own crafty-lady-blog.

My hope is that after a few (or a lot) of awkward early posts I’ll get into a rhythm of making creativity in some form part of my every day routine. It is way too easy to spend the entire day in the library, elbow deep in notes and thesis writing.

So… here we go. I can’t promise I’ll be the best, but I can promise that I’m going to try. I really, really want to try.
