While I’m on an admitting embarrassing things kick, I would like to share the BBC series “Spooks” (known as “MI-5″ in the US) with you all. This is not a particularly good show (a la “Mad Men” or “The Wire”). However, it has made my summer absurdly enjoyable. In fact, last week when I was busy “rediscovering DC” a lot of that time was actually spent watching MI-5. I think this show is a little like if “24″ didn’t suck.
I like America and I like TV. So what? I’ve decided that, like the Internet, TV isn’t all bad. Afterall, I’m stilldoing my reading for school, walking, volunteering, etc. So what if I like a little escapist entertainment from time to time? Of course, it’ll be even better when I decide to start embroidering when the show is on. But, who can embroider when the fate of the free world hangs in the balance?! Seriously people.
Also, I have such a character crush on Ruth. In a different world, where my skepticism didn’t outweigh my love of country, I’d like to believe that I could do the kind of work she does. Sigh…
Jon and I are getting cable next week. It’s been nice, no doubt, to be without cable (and really, more or less without TV) but with the election and the fact that I’m in a media studies program we decided it’s time. Hello “Law & Order” marathons!! Too much embarrassing information?
Anyway, school begins today so there will be very little time for “Spooks” or other kinds of mindless TV. Things are about to get serious. I just wanted to let you all know that the show is amazing. Seriously, get it fron Netflix and check back in with me in 6 weeks.

hahaha! Just as you are about to get cable, Ziska and I have decided to stop watching tv. Apparently, I’m not getting enough (and by enough I mean anything) done on my dissertation, and tv is to blame. Damn you free cable! Damn you TV! Anyways.. I’m glad you are picking up my slack. The universe is in balance once again.
