I took on another reproductive rights job out here in DC. I’m working with the ACLU (who is partnering with NARAL, Planned Parenthood MD, and other groups) to prevent the sale of PG County’s hospital system to a private, faith-based group. Like the work in SD, I’m making some videos for them– mostly interviews with stake-holders and/or people on the street.
While I can’t say that I ever wanted to make video, it is nice to be doing something I believe in and that is mildly creative. Learning the tools has been kind of a pain and I’ve had to work at getting over my ego and acknowledging how effing hard it is to make a compelling video.
Above is my first effort for the ACLU project. I didn’t do the filming myself, and while I’m happy with it, lets just say I suddenly realize why it is important to trust your DP…
