So, it is November. I don’t really like November much, the leaves are starting to die and it isn’t December yet. Plus, Thanksgiving (my favorite holiday) is so late this year it might as well be in December! Maybe my November angst is because I don’t yet have an idea for my Christmas cards (though one is brewing), and I also want to change up my day planner and calendar patterns.
For the past couple of years I’ve had a gorgeous Nikki McClure monthly calendar next to my desk or on our “salon wall.” I think her work is just beautiful and full of really wonderful and calming thoughts. Still, after two years of more-or-less the same art I’m sort of ready for a change. The problem is, I really like the organization system I’ve worked out with my Moleskine weekly journal/notebook thing (below) and of course Nikki McClure’s art is delightful. Plus, the Nikki M calendars often sell out… so I feel like I need to make a decision post haste.
Maybe other people don’t feel this kind of stress about their day planner purchases? Well, I do. I am tempted by the Slingshot (above)– it is so cute and punk rock– but I tried it once before and it just didn’t cut it. Last time I tried to use this one it just kind of… well, it wasn’t right– I think I need clean, strait lines and more space to write down all my to-dos.
I’ve been taking a peer on Etsy for some kind of super clean inside but funky on the outside planner and have come up empty handed. I’m intrigued by Maluhia’s cloth covered day planners, but I feel like they’re also going to be too small. And, really, I need them to lay flat when they’re open, so a hardcover planner is out. Ohhh… maybe I like Christina’s patterns better. Plus, I could probably make a cloth cover for a Moleskine planner and get the layout and paper I like without having to worry about size… Of course, that takes time and I’m already having to plan into 2009.
Yeah, actually I just talked myself into making a cover for a Moleskine. Glad we got that settled. I’ll get to work figuring out how to do that and keep you posted. As for the large artsy calendar, I’m tempted by SouleMama’s pretty one (below); plus, it’d be lovely to support a blogger I admire but… I just can’t tell if Id like to look at those photos all year. I mean, I would… but $38? Seems just a *tad* high for me… the Nikki McClure is, after all, only $16. I suppose I could make my own from my Flickr set… again, though… Then I’d have to pick.
Apparently, I am a crazy person. Sorry. I suppose picking a year’s worth of art doesn’t stress ya’ll out? Humph. I’ll need to figure this out soon…

I’m super fond of this Muji notebook. It has a circle for am on one side of a spread and pm on the other and you write everything spirling out from that. I’m not sure if you would love it or find it dismally disorienting but here is a link http://www.coolhunting.com/archives/2008/04/muji_chronotebo.php.
