Jon and I still do Christmas with our families (seperately).  Two years ago we did Christmas together, on the big day, but since we’ve back East there is no reason for him not to go see his family in VA and for me to go back to TX.  Plus, when you’re a grad student you have loads of time off around the holidays.

Anyway, we did “Couple Christmas” late last week– Jon very sweetly came home from work and immediately got to work on some braised short ribs (mmmm, no photos– we were too busy eating).  I like our special times like this, I guess everyone does, but esepcially in the winter they make me feel so safe and hunkered.

My mom still sends us an advent calendar every year.  For the last few she’s found Lego calendars– really I think these are a present for Jon (who is crazy hard to shop for)

This year I found an awesome book for Jon… he seemed really happy with it, which is such a relief because, as I mentioned, that guy is near impossible to shop for.  We often exchange photo books at Christmas.  I think we do this because they are just ever-so-slightly pricey and also not something either of us can really justify buying for no good reason.

There will be more photos of my Texas Christmas sometime after New Year’s.  There is a camera-related surprise coming with those too… so stay patient with me.
