AEBowen Homepage

Spent the entire day yesterday working on the new central hub for my strategic online presence: www.AEBowen.com.  It isn’t 100% done yet, I want to change the color blocks behind title text, but I’m still learning CSS.  Still, it was a lot more fun than I thought it’d be and I really like the theme I found, “Fancy.”

Since I‘m still learning need to learn CSS I figured I’d start with a really kick arse template and then, as I get more comfortable with CSS, I’ll updated and edit it to be just right for me.  When I started looking at some CSS tutorials I felt like I didn’t even know where to begin, this weekend my sweetie is going to help me figure out the first step in CSS coding and then I’m hoping to teach myself.  I can’t tell yet if this is an unrealistic goal.  I did the Internet setup stuff (i.e. hosting, domain registration and directing, uploading the template, etc) myself but that is pretty technical.  I am slightly concerned about the creative/design aspects of CSS mixing with the technical side of my brain.  I’m not sure that those have ever mixed really– it’ll be exciting for sure.

Anyway, always looking for constructive feedback.  Can’t wait to send this site out to future employers and maybe, if Im lucky, get some sweet job.

    Really helpful CSS tip:

Get the “FireBug” addon for Firefox and use it to experiment with CSS directly in your browser, instead of endless cycles of edit-refresh-edit-refresh. It’s also helpful for inspecting other people’s sites, to learn how they make things work. Use the “Inspect” button liberally.

P.S. You picked a great template to start with. It’s very “Ashley” and very “New Media 2009″ at the same time.
