I saw Pixar’s “Up” last night and loved it.  Loved. It.  Although I’ve written elsewhere about the lack of strong girl characters in Disney and Pixar films, this film was so good I didn’t mind that the girl character died early on.  This movie hit all the right notes for me and absolutely tugged on all my heart strings– I think I was crying about 5 min into the film and cried off and on throughout as Carl and Russel became friends, showed real vulnerability, and  a dog talked (without moving his mouth)!

Spend some time at the official site, I wasnt sure I wanted to go out to the movies last night until I saw how adorable Carl and Russel are and the incredible design that Pixar brought to the film.  Honestly, I cant say enough about this movie– the basic plot is simple and playful but what really made it worth seeing was the humanity that Pixar gave to each of the characters.  I haven’t seen an animated movie yet where I felt like each person was so real.
